Exciting news from Data For Policy 2024 conference in London!

The AI4Gov team is presenting at the Data for Policy 2024 conference in London this week. The conference, titled “Decoding the Future: Trustworthy Governance with AI?”, brings together global experts to explore AI’s role in trustworthy decision-making and governance.

Their presentation, “Towards Fairer AI: A Visual Synthesis of Bias Mitigation Tools and Training Frameworks”, is part of Track 4: Ethics, Equity and Trustworthiness. The authors are:

  • from Jožef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana, Slovenia: Alenka Guček, Tanja Zdolšek Draksler, Matej Kovačič
  • from University of Piraeus Research Centre (UPRC), Athens, Greece: Andreas Karabetian, Konstantinos Mavrogiorgos, George Manias

The presentation addresses the crucial topic of fairness in AI, presenting a visual overview of tools and frameworks for mitigating bias in AI systems. The team introduces a comprehensive Bias Detector Toolkit, designed as a visual catalogue synthesizing various bias mitigation tools. This toolkit aims to empower a wide range of stakeholders, from the general public to AI practitioners, with a nuanced understanding of available tools for detecting and mitigating biases in AI systems.
