Meta Grosman

Meta Grosman is Professor of English literature at the University of Ljubljana, English department of the Faculty of arts.
She holds BA in English and German, MA from Miami University (USA) and PhD in literary theory from the University of Ljubljana. She was a Fulbright research fellow at UC Berkeley and guest lectured in several countries. She headed the department of Germanic languages and of English for several years. She has published extensively on English and American authors from different periods and on the intercultural reception of their texts in Slovenia. Her special interests are in literatures in English, reading in intercultural positions, interculturality, promotion of multiliteracy and languages in education. Her books include English novel (several reprints 1981-1989), Bralec in književnost (Readers and literature, 1989), American Literature for NonAmerican Readers (1995), Književnost v medkulturnem položaju (Literature in intercultural positions, 2004), Zagovor branja (In defence of reading, 2004), Razsežnosti branja (Dimensions of reading, 2006). With R. de Beaugrande and B. Seidlhofer she co-edited Language Policy and Language Education in Emerging Nations (1998) and Translation in Non-Mother Tongues (2000) with M. Kadric, I. Kovacic and M. Snell Hornby.
