Mitja Jermol has been doing research and development on cybernetics, CAD-CAM systems and artificial intelligence. His main research area is Knowledge Management enriched with the modern analytic techniques in the context of improved business processes for new organizational forms. Besides that, he is particularly interested in contemporary models and theories of knowledge, complex systems and knowledge technologies. Mitja Jermol graduated in 1992 and received his MSc in 1996 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana. In 1996 he became head of the R&D department in DZS Inc., educational publishing division that was focused in research in knowledge management, digital publishing, multimedia and ICT in education.
Since January 2003 he has been workeing at the JSI in the Department of Knowledge Technologies and he is leading the Centre for Knowledge Transfer in Information Technologies. Mitja has long-term experience with European projects. Among others, he is JSI’s representative in FP6 ECOLEAD, E4, Tool-East and IST-WORLD and a member of the management board of FP7 projects COIN IP, EURIDICE IP and ACTIVE IP. Mitja is a member of the European Complex System Society, W3C Education and Outreach Working Group, Chaordic Systems Society and European current research information systems (CRIS) community. He is a cofounder of the two SMEs, Quintelligence and Cycorp RER.
